Day 01 – Bhubaneshwar | Barkul | Taptapani | Gopalpur

Welcome to Bhubaneshwar, the capital of Orissa. On arrival at Bhubaneshwar airport or Bhubaneshwar railway station, starts your tour of ‘Glorious Orissa‘. You will be received and taken to your hotel. In the afternoon proceed on a half day tour visiting the Lingaraj temple, Parsurameswar temple, the Mukteshwar temple and the Raja Rani temple.

Day 02 – Bhubaneshwar – Barkul (105 kms / approx. 2 hour drive)

Late morning drive to Barkul, where the sea mixes with the 1100 sq km inland Chilika Lake to create a brackish water lake. This lake is home to over 160 varieties of fish and in the winter season it is home to hundreds of thousands of migratory birds. Dotted with a host of islands with romantic names, a cruise in Chilika is recommended (on direct payment). On arrival get transferred to your hotel. The rest of the day is spent at leisure to enjoy the beauty in and around the lake.

Day 03 – Barkul- Taptapani (113 kms / approx 2 & half hour drive)

This morning drive to Taptapani. Set amidst thick forests, Taptapani is known for its hot sulphur springs, said to contain medicinal properties for many a cure. The hot water is channelised to a pond nearby to facilitate people have a bath.

Day 04 – Taptapani – Gopalpur (65 kms / approx 1 hour drive)

After a relaxed morning, drive back to Gopalpur. Once buzzing with maritime activities, Gopalpur, until 1942 was a frequented sea port during the British rule but now a popular beach resort in Orissa. The temptation of bathing in the deep and clear blue waters with the white surf splashing on the golden sands makes Gopalpur-on-sea one of the finest beaches in the eastern coast and offers a rewarding experience of sun, fun, and frolic.

Day 05 – Return home with happy memories

Time to bid farewell to ‘Glorious Orissa’ tour as you drive back from Gopalpur (153 kms / approx 3 hour drive) to Bhubaneshwar airport or Bhubaneshwar railway station for your journey onward.

Puri | Gopalpur | Bhubaneshwar

Day 01 – Arrive Bhubaneshwar | To Puri (60 kms / approx. 2 hour drive)

Welcome to Bhubaneshwar, the Capital of Orissa. On arrival at Bhubaneshwar airport or Bhubaneshwar railway station, starts your tour of ‘Pearls of the East’. Proceed on a picturesque drive to Puri. Enroute, visit the famous Lingaraja Temple. Also, have a brief halt at Pipli village, famous for its Appliqué work. One can buy various handicrafts at Pipli village. On arrival at Puri, check into your hotel. Late in the afternoon, visit the Lord Jagannatha Temple. The rest of the evening is spent in leisure.

Day 02 – In Puri | Excursion to Konark Sun Temple (35 kms / approx. 1 hour drive)

This morning, proceed on a half-day excursion to Konark Sun Temple, built by Narasimhadeva-I in 1250 A.D, shaped like a chariot driven by seven horses on 12 pairs of wheels. In the afternoon, visit the artisans’ village of Raghurajpur. The village is famous for Patta Chitra work (paintings on Palm Leaves). The rest of the evening is free for shopping.

Day 03 – To Gopalpur via Chilika (242 kms / approx. 6 hour drive)

This morning proceed towards Gopalpur, one of the most pristine beaches of Orissa. Enroute, visit the Chilika Bird Sanctuary famous for rare migratory birds. On arrival, check into your hotel. The rest of the evening is spent in leisure.

Day 04 – In Gopalpur | Excursion to Taptapani (60 kms / approx. 1& half hour drive)

In the morning, proceed on a half-day excursion to Taptapani – hot water springs renowned for their medicinal value. Taptapani is also a much sought after picnic spot. Return to Gopalpur in the afternoon. The rest of the day is spent in leisure to explore the quaint town of Gopalpur.

Day 05 – To Bhubaneshwar (180kms / approx. 5 hour drive)

Today, proceed towards Bhubaneshwar, the capital city of Orissa. Enroute visit the Udaygiri & Khandagiri Caves – an excellent example of Jain Cave Art, built by Kharavela around 1st – 2nd Century BC for Jain monks. On arrival, check into your hotel.

Day 05 – Depart Bhubaneshwar | Return home with happy memories

Today, bid farwell to your ‘Pearls of the East’ tour as you are transferred to Bhubaneshwar airport or Bhubaneshwar railway station for your journey onward.
